DCLM Sincere Milk 29 September 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Don’t be deceitful
TOPIC: DON’T BE DECEITFUL
BIBLE TEXT: PROVERBS 12:5,17
5The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
17He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
KEY VERSE: “The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit” (Proverbs 12:5).
A deceitful child is wicked, untrustworthy and can kill in a subtle way. In appearance, he may look gentle, calm and beautiful, but his heart is full of evil, for out of the heart proceeds deceit (Mark 7:21, 22). Be sincere with yourself. Are you deceitful? A deceitful child can be an angel at home and Satan-controlled in the school or vice versa.
Sometimes ago, there was a boy from a wealthy family who was well-cared for. At home, he was an angel, leading devotion and always being praised by his parents. One day, his school’s head teacher sent for his father. He was told how his son was caught doing evil with the members of his group. The father collapsed immediately. He brought shame and disgrace to the family, and the true picture of his life was exposed.

A deceitful child can change his school reports, give false information, collect money not asked for in the school from parents, cheat by using other people’s name to get favour, promise what he does not have to show that he is ‘big’. Satan, the chief deceiver controls his life in order to ruin it.
If you are a deceitful child, you must repent of this wickedness. Ask for forgiveness and cleansing in Jesus’ blood. Then invite Jesus into your heart to be your Saviour, Lord and King. His grace and power will turn your life around for His glory.
PRAYER: Lord, forgive me and make me truthful in all my ways.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
