DCLM Daily Manna 18 September 2025 — Don’t Conform To The World

DCLM Daily Manna 18 September 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Don’t Conform To The World

Topic: Don’t Conform To The World (DCLM Daily Manna 18 September 2025)

Key Verse: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2).

TEXT — Romans 12:1-3

1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Athanasius, the early bishop of Alexandria, stoutly opposed the teachings of Arius who declared that Jesus Christ was not the eternal Son of God, but a subordinate being. After experiencing life in exile on five occasions, the bishop was summoned to appear before emperor Theodosius who demanded that he cease his opposition to Arius. When asked by the emperor: “Do you not realise that all the world is against you?” Athanasius quickly responded, “Then I am against all the world.”

True believers swim against the tide of sinful cultural and traditional practices in the world. In today’s text, Apostle Paul cautioned the Roman believers against conformity to the worldly system in Rome but present their entire being in gratitude to the Master who died for them. The Apostle explained that they were to be living sacrifices that were holy and acceptable to God, and not conform to the world. The culture of the world runs contrary to the will and ways of God. Believers who were hitherto accustomed to the idolatrous system of the world, are admonished to present their minds for transformation through the cleansing power in the blood of Jesus Christ. This will make them acceptable and perfectly grounded in God’s will.

Taking a stand against what is obtainable in the world will usually attract persecution to Christians. But true disciples must remain undaunted like their counterparts in the early church, who suffered greatly for being different from the world. The faith of our fathers lived on still, despite dungeons, fire, and swords.

Compromising with the world in worship, values, and friendship in the hope that it will help to win them to Christ is not just unacceptable, but futile. It is contrary to God’s will and command. It is only when we are distinct in character and conduct, when we stand out from the crowd that we can better influence men for Christ. Changing colours like a chameleon, depending on the trends of the time, will be the greatest betrayal to the Lord who laid down His life to redeem us from all our sins, and grant us hope in time and eternity.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The greatest weapon for changing the world is a transformed heart.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
