DCLM Sincere Milk 17 May 2024 — Don’T Settle For Less
DCLM Sincere Milk 17 May 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Don’T Settle For Less
Topic: Don’T Settle For Less
Text: Proverbs 23:11-18
11For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
12Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
13Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
14Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
15My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
16Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
17Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
18For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
Key Verse: “… and thy expectation shall not be cut off.” Proverbs 23:18
Message
Jerry was expecting a very high score in his promotion examination. He put in much efforts by reading very hard and prepared for the examinations, but when the result was out, he passed, but not what he expected. He was discouraged, but his father encouraged him not to settle for less.

The enemy can’t stop God’s plan for your life, but he’ll do his best to convince you to settle along the way. If you’re going to become all you were created to be, you have to make up your mind, with a resolve that says, “I refuse to settle for less than what God promised me.” What God promised you, will come to pass.
“And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath;” (Deuteronomy 28:13a) Amen.

Prayer for today: Lord, give me courage not to settle for less, but to continue to strive for greatness.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
