DCLM Higher Everyday 2 September 2025 — Enemies: Known And Unknown

DCLM Higher Everyday 2 September 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Enemies: Known And Unknown

Topic: Enemies: Known And Unknown

Text: Psalm 143:7-12

7Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

8Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

9Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

10Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

11Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.

12And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

Key Verse: “Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me” (Psalms 143:9).

Message

According to the Ancient Greek, an enemy or adversary is one that is antagonistic to another or something harmful or deadly. The known enemy of humanity is the sinful nature in man. Sin ruins our lives and severs us from the love, care and protection of God. Known enemies are the sinful practices like fornication, internet fraud, lying, anger, envy, dishonesty and so on. The unknown enemies are the demons, principalities and powers of darkness that are responsible for setbacks and other strange occurrences in the world. They are unseen forces engineered by the devil to lure youths to sinful habits with the intention of damning their souls in hell forever.

Youths should always pray for God’s deliverance from the enemies because it is only He who has the power to bruise the head of Satan, the mastermind behind all negative circumstances in our lives. Do not forget that “the name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” (Proverbs18:10).To overcome the known and unknown enemies, you need to accept Christ as Lord and Saviour over your life.

Quote: Youths should always pray

Challenge: Are you ready for a complete victory?

Prayer for today: Oh Lord, please grant me all-round victories.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
