TOPIC: ENOUGH FOR ONE ONLY
TEXT: EZEKIEL 14:12-14
12The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,
13Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:
14Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.
MESSAGE:
Key Verse:”Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD” (Ezekiel 14:14).
Daniel’s father and mother were devoted members of their church. Daniel’s father had been a pastor years before Daniel was born. Every member of the church expected Daniel to follow in the footsteps of his parents.
When people observed that Daniel was not loving the Lord as was expected, everyone began to pray for and talk to Daniel often about his salvation. Daniel misunderstood God’s way and replied in anger: “What else do you people expect me to do? My father is a pastor and my mother a committed Christian. They are both righteous before God. Is that not enough to take me to heaven?”

No! The righteousness of one man is not enough to deliver another person from God’s judgment. Our key verse makes this very clear. The righteousness of these three great men of God (Noah, Daniel and Job) was only enough to deliver them.
It is only your own righteous doings that will make God happy with you. Speak righteous words, think righteous thoughts and do righteous works. This is the only way you can be delivered from the trouble that will come upon the world.
Prayer:Lord, help me to always do those things that are right before You.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
