52And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

53And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.

Key Verse: “And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.” Genesis 41:52

Message

Joseph realized how kind God had been to him. He acknowledged the fact that over these many years of pain, God had been there working for his good. He gave his son a name that would help him to constantly remember God’s faithfulness. His life was truly filled with afflictions. His mother died when he was a few years old. He escaped death, from the hands of his own brothers. The hatred and jealousy of the same brothers caused them to sell him into slavery. The lust and lies of Potiphar’s wife sent him to prison. He ended up in the darkest part of Egyptian’s prison in his attempt to please God. The thought of freedom and fruitfulness was completely gone. Pharaoh’s minister forgot him despite his kindness to him. Considering all the troubles he had passed through, little did he know that fruitfulness would still come in his life.

Truly, only God can bring fruitfulness in your life in time of pain and afflictions. You learn also that it does not matter whether you are passing through pain or joy, the Lord makes His children fruitful all the way. Keep loving and serving the Lord though you maybe mocked or beaten for this. But the Lord is with you and He will make you fruitful in all areas of your life.

Prayer for today: The Lord Jesus will bless me in all my troubles and make me fruitful as I serve Him.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
