TOPIC: EXCITED EVANGELISTS
TEXT: LUKE 10:17-19
MEMORY VERSE: “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name” (LUKE 10:17).
MESSAGE:
Right from the time of our Lord Jesus Christ to the early Church era, and down to contemporary times, it has always been an exciting thing for Christians to see souls saved, the sick healed and the captives of Satan set free through their evangelistic efforts.
According to Matthew Henry, “The saints have no greater joy or satisfaction in any of their triumphs than in those over Satan. If devils are subject to us, what can stand before us?” Indeed, nothing!
Dear friend, overcoming demons gives joy, but Jesus announced something more: “…but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20b). This implies that your name in the book of life is the real deal. You are saved, but are you preaching salvation to others? Help to have their names written in heaven. Remember, when a sinner is saved, there is joy in heaven, joy in the saved sinner, joy in the evangelist, and joy in the congregation. Spare no effort to preach the gospel. Get excited about going to tell everybody that Jesus Christ is the Saviour.
QUOTE: Spare no effort to preach the gospel.
CHALLENGE: Join the proclaimers of the good news.
PRAYER: Father, help me to preach the gospel of deliverance.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
