TOPIC: Faith’s Testimonies (DCLM Daily Manna 27 February 2022)
TEXT: Hebrews 11:32-40 (KJV)
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
KEY VERSE: “And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise.” – (Hebrews 11:39)
MESSAGE:
Thomas Jefferson was reputed to have been an ardent follower of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. It was reported that after reading the four synoptic gospels of Christ, he extracted only the words of Christ and turned them into a book, which he titled: The Life and Words of Jesus of Nazareth. This text later became the Jefferson Bible.
God, in all ages, has continued to raise faithful and courageous men and women who delight in Him. They, through divine grace, did great exploits. The account in our text shows evidently how godly men and women in Bible day expressed their love and loyalty to God and the heavenly cause.

The catalogue of faithful saints ranged from Abel, the first martyr to Moses the great charismatic leader of God’s people, down to the great prophets and kings who hazarded their lives, comforts and reputations in the course of the defence of their faith in Jehovah. The poor, needy and vulnerable folks, including women, were not left out. Some of them were tortured but refused to compromise: all they wanted was to obtain a better resurrection (Hebrews 11:35).
Dear reader, you can have your share of the good testimony from Christ if you turn your life genuinely to Him in repentance and faithfully follow His teachings and ways as enunciated in the Scriptures. The list of heroes of faith is still being compiled and your name could be the next in the roll. Indeed, the Lord has great plans for you. His thought towards you are pleasant ones to give you a future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Live for God’s glory to be in the number.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
1 Corinthians 12-14

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
