Message
In the year 2020, a social media platform was banned in a particular West African country because it was accused of spreading fake news. The government said people were using this medium to tell lies to the people in the country. The fake news was giving wrong information to the citizens and causing them to be unhappy with the government. The fear was that if this was not checked, it could cause mistrust that might disrupt the peace of the country.
Fake news has a way of paying back those who spread it. In our Bible passage, Saul and his son Jonathan, had died in a battle. Saul hated David and wanted to kill him. Everyone thought David would be happy to hear that Saul has died. That is why an Amalekite ran to David with a fake news that he was the one that killed Saul. His mouth testified against him and that led to his untimely death. Those who lie or publish fake news always want to gain from their evil deed. Be careful with what you say with your little mouth. There is a Father above who is listening and will reward everyone accordingly.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to tell the truth always no matter the pain I will suffer.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
