Text — Isaiah 43:1-4
2When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Key Verse: “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine” (Isaiah 43:1).
Message
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States of America at his first inaugural address said, “Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we need to fear is fear itself.” Fear enslaves, and devastates; makes one to fringe and cringe; and cripples one’s hope of a blissful and bright future. However, faith in God crumbles fear. The believer’s missiles against fear include: (1) study and meditation on God’s Word (2) Prayer of faith (3) Daily holy living, and (4) Perseverance
In today’s reading, God assures us of His presence when going through waters, rivers, and fire. Storms of life come in various forms: academic and financial challenges, sickness, delay in getting school admission, temptations, disappointments, and persecutions. We are to face life’s vicissitudes with courage and faith in God. Make Jesus your friend today by accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. Then have faith in God and your fears will disappear.
Quote: Faith in God crumbles fear.
Challenge: Jesus is with you always.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank you for your abiding presence.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
