TOPIC: FLEE YOUTHFUL LUSTS
TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 2:15-22
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
MEMORY VERSE: “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 TIMOTHY 2:22).
MESSAGE
Youthful lusts are inordinate and sinful passions to go into immoral behaviour that could damn the soul of a youth. Lusts in the heart of a youth could lead him or her to impurities of the heart and flesh.
Inordinate passions emanating from uncontrolled lusts have led many youths to pornography, rape, early and unwanted pregnancy and the likes. Lust can destroy your physical and spiritual life if you do not fight against it vigorously. Little wonder the instruction of God is to flee youthful lusts.
No excuse is acceptable for you to commit immorality. Don’t allow any boy or girl to seduce you. If you are tempted by anyone to commit fornication, do what Joseph did in Genesis 39:7-12. Run away! Don’t stay back to negotiate with anyone who suggests immorality to you.
Many promising girls have allowed evil boys and men to destroy their future through early pregnancies. Many youths have died of the dreaded Acquire Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) because of immorality. Don’t be a victim.
Are you lusting after anyone? Shut the door against the devil! Repent, ask for God’s forgiveness and cleansing.

PRAYER: Lord, help me never to commit fornication.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
