Topic: Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Text: Genesis 12:1-5

1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

Key Verse: “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:” Genesis 12:1

Message

Dan has been in the same school from kindergarten class till his fourth year in the primary school. He has always been the best student all through. Then in his fifth year, his parents took him to another school. Dan surprisingly came fourth in his new school and then he got to know it was no longer business as usual.

Comfort zones are places, positions, achievements, skills that have become normal for us. Our peers consider us as champions in those areas and we succeed without having to sweat. Comfort zones however, hold us back from new experiences and opportunities.

True progress happens when you challenge yourself to try new things. Are you a singer? try some musical instruments, are you a good artist? try to be a good writer too. In whichever area in life you feel you may be doing well now, know you can get better by embracing new opportunities. Do away with fear and laziness and explore new areas.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, deliver me from every fear that hinders progress and help me to launch out to greater heights.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
