DCLM Higher Everyday 28 November 2025 — Go On And Grow

DCLM Higher Everyday 27 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Go On And Grow

Topic: Go On And Grow

Text: 2 Samuel 5:4-10

4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

7Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

8And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

9So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

10And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

Key Verse: “And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him” (2 Samuel 5:10).

Message

The presence of God in a person’s life creates a fertile environment for growth but growth is a result of decisions and actions taken under good counsel with divine support. Just as a person grows physically from infant to adult, like David who went on and grew greatly, so a Christian’s life is designed to grow spiritually from a baby to a mature Christian. God desires we grow greatly spiritually, academically, and materially. However, the process demands that we make sacrifice, take bold steps and partner with others as David did.

Do not run away from challenges or complain in difficult times, rather focus on getting victory and growing above them. The obstacles and challenges of life look smaller and weaker as we grow stronger in the Lord. We must be in complete obedience to God’s word and the Spirit’s leading to grow in the faith. Bible records reveal that John the Baptist, despite being filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother’s womb still grew. Also the Bible says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52).

Quote: God desires we grow greatly

Challenge: Overcome challenges and obstacles to grow.

Prayer for today: Help me Lord to do what needs to be done for my growth.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
