DCLM Higher Everyday 23 May 2024 — God Delights In His Elect
Topic: God Delights In His Elect
Text: Isaiah 42:1-7
1Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
5Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
6I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
Key Verse: “Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles”(Isaiah 42:4).
Message
Gloriously revealed in our Bible text today as, ‘my servant,’ is the Messiah, Jesus Christ, whom Jehovah God delights in. The Messiah, though meek, lowly, righteous and mild, is courageous, and diligent to preach the gospel and bring light to the Gentiles. The prophesy of Isaiah in our text shows how God would bring judgment or gospel of deliverance by Christ to all held in captivity to Satan. God gave the Messiah the Holy Spirit in excess to preach, teach and deliver (John 3:34). All those bound by idolatrous traditions and all sinfull practices can be delivered by Him.
As God delights in Christ, so He delights in every Christian because we are joint-heirs with Him (Romans 8:17). God cares for His beloved children who stand out in character and obedience to His word. Do you as a Christian stay away from pollution and defilement? He will give you wisdom, understanding, and divine abilities in all you do. He will also honour and promote you as He did to Joseph, Daniel, Esther, Shadrack, Meshack, Abednego, and Christ’s disciples.
Quote: God cares for His beloved.
Challenge: Be God’s elect for a delightful destiny.
Prayer for today: Dear God, help me to obey you always, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
