DCLM Higher Everyday 12 November 2023 — God Favours the Faithful
Topic: God Favours the Faithful
Text: Psalm 101:1-7
1(A Psalm of David.) I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.
2I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
5Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
6Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
7He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
Key Verse: “Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me” (Psalm 101:6).
Message
Faithfulness is an attribute of God, which is expected to be manifested by His children. Faithfulness is the quality of being loyal, firmly and resolutely staying with a person, group, cause or belief without wavering. It means to be constant, consistent and committed to one’s duties and obligations without compromise. God indeed favours His faithful children. Ruth was faithful to Naomi and her God and was favoured to bear a son through whom Jesus came.
If you walk in the way of God, fulfilling your duty to Him and humanity, truly you will find favour. You do not work for favour, but you should live a life that attracts it. The Bible says, “A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD…” (Proverbs 12:2). God made Joseph to gain the favour of the keeper of the prison (Genesis 39:21), Samuel had favour with God and men; and so did our Lord, Jesus Christ (1 Samuel 2:26; Luke 2:52). Indeed, God favours the faithful (Matthew 25:19-23). He will answer their prayers and they shall inherit eternal life and serve Him forever.
Quote: He will answer their prayers
Challenge: The unfaithful are not God’s children.
Prayer for today: Lord, empower me to serve you faithfully to the end.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
