DCLM Sincere Milk 25 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God Forbid
Topic: God Forbid
Text: Job 27:3-6
3All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
4My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
5God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
6My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
Key Verse: “God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.” Job 27:5
Message
God forbid” is a statement used to express one’s dislike for actions that God hates and disallow. If we are children of God then we must hate what God hate. Job refused to accept the wrong things his friends said about him. He also later repented from his poor understanding of God’s righteous doings. Our world is ungodly and sinful because most people living here accept and practice the things God forbids. True friends of Jesus must be careful so that they do not do what God forbids when things are good or difficult with them.

There are many things that are forbidden in your life as a friend of Jesus. Sin in all forms and sizes are forbidden by God. Though we are living in the so called “free world”, we are not free to accept and do anything that God forbids. It is a sin for you to justify evil, whether it is you, your brother or friend that is doing it. Separate from evil doings and rebuke the evildoers. Run away from what God forbids.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to quickly turn away from all things that You forbid.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
