TOPIC: GOD IN THREE PERSONS
BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 1:1-3,26
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
MEMORY VERSE: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle…” (GENESIS 1:26).
MESSAGE:
On Trinity, Wikipedia states, “One God in three Persons in Trinitarian doctrine, God exists as three persons but one being, having a single divine nature. The members of the Trinity are co-equal and co-eternal, one in essence, nature, power, action and will.”
God is a truine God. Hence, the term, “Tri” entails three and “Unity” means one. Calling the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, “Persons,” does not connote they are human beings. It is true that in our daily parlance, mankind is referred to as person. But God being referred to as ‘Persons’ does not mean God is mankind. The word ‘Person’ depicts that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit each has personality. God existing in three Persons entails that God’s existence comprises three distinct centres of intellect, emotion and will. Each Person of the Godhead played unique role in creation and redemption of mankind.
Reginald Heber wrote:
“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth, and sky, and sea!
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!”
QUOTE: God is a truine God.
CHALLENGE: The Godhead played a unique role in redemption of mankind.
PRAYER: I bow down before You, O God.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
