DCLM Sincere Milk 5 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God is Faithful
Topic: God is Faithful
Text: 1Corinthians 10:12-14
12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
14Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
Key Verse: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Message
“These questions are too difficult. I doubt I will ever pass Mathematics examination.” Vera, a 5-year-old pupil shouted as she went through her 15-year-old brother’s Mathematics past questions. Vera was wrong, she passed her own Numeracy examinations excellently as she was tested on questions for her class and level. Temptations, like examinations come to everyone in different ways and levels. It could be a suggestion to tell a lie, fight, steal or any other form of disobedience to God’s word. God demands that we overcome them every time. God allows only temptation that you can overcome to come your way. He is faithful; He never allows us to be tempted beyond what we can overcome.

To overcome all temptations, you must daily receive grace and strength from God through prayer, meditation on God’s word, and watchfulness. Just as eating good food gives you strength and power for the day, the word of God gives spiritual strength to overcome all temptations. If you haven’t repented of your sins, repent now. God is waiting for you to ask for grace. Go ahead and ask Him.

Prayer for today: Help me Lord today, to overcome all temptations that come my way.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
