Text: Psalm 62:1-7
1(To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.) Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
2He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
3How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.
4They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
5My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
6He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Message
Have you been threatened by someone and you immediately run to your dad or mom for your defence and protection? You have the confidence that no one can harm you because your dad and mom are with you. God’s defence is greater and stronger than that of your parents. He is the Almighty God Who has power over all things. As your Defence, God protects, preserves and keeps you safe from all harms. He will always send His angels to keep you in all your ways. He is ready to fight for you in all the battles of life.

If God is your defence you don’t need to fear. The psalmist in our text understood this when he said “He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.” You should be like him and put your complete trust in God and you shall be protected from every attack of the enemy. When you are asleep in the night, the glory of God will cover you and no enemy can touch you because you are safe in God’s hand. Everywhere you go, be assured that you are under God’s divine protection.

Prayer for today: Lord, please defend me from all the attacks of the enemy. Amen.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
