TEXT: 1 KINGS 14:1-6
1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.
2And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.
3And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.
4And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
5And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.
6And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.
MEMORY VERSE: “And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.” 1 KINGS 14:6
MESSAGE:
The story in our Bible passage is a very interesting one. It shows the peoples ignorance of who God is. Jeroboam was a servant of Solomon whom God chose to be king when the kingdom of Israel was divided after the death of Solomon. God gave Jeroboam 10 tribes, while Rehoboam the son of Solomon was ruling over only two tribes. Unfortunately, Jeroboam forsook God who appointed him as king and worshipped idols.
What a bad way to repay God’s goodness. Now the son of Jeroboam was sick and at the point of death. At that point he remembered the prophet of God named Ahijah whom God used to prophesy to him that he would become king. But he did not want the prophet to know that he was the one who needed help because he knew the evil he had done. So, he told his wife to dress like another woman in disguise thinking the prophet would not know. But God told the prophet the whole secret and the prophet exposed the pretentious woman.

Many children today play pranks thinking they can hide from God.Some children claim to be born again but they tell lies, fight in the school, steal money from their parents’ purse and pockets, keep bad friends and engage in all kinds of deceptions, thinking God does not know. But God knows. God knows your name, He knows where you live and He knows all you do. Are you truly born again or you are just disguising with Christian dressing? God knows YOU. Therefore, you must repent now and be saved.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, Jesus, deliver me from every life of pretence and fake life style.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
