DCLM Higher Everyday 24 July 2025 — Godly Virtues -Part 3: Kindness
DCLM Higher Everyday 24 July 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Godly Virtues -Part 3: Kindness
Topic: Godly Virtues -Part 3: Kindness
Text: 2 Peter 1:5-10
5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
Key Verse: “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness” (2 Peter 1:5, 6).
Message
A ladybug beetle somersaulted and could not overturn itself. A ladybug discovered it struggling and drew near to assist but could not help it. It flew to the company of other beetles and signaled to them. They flew en masse to the scene. With joint efforts they rescued the beetle.
Kindness is the quality of being friendly, considerate and generous towards others. It involves showing empathy, compassion and willingness to help or support someone without expecting anything in return. Kindness is giving a helping hand to someone in distress. It is doing everything within one’s power to bring succor to someone in need. It is unbecoming of a child of God to see someone suffering and look away or turn the other side. Be the reason that someone smiles today.

A kind believer will always responds to a suffering individual in the best way he or she can irrespective of race, region or religion. Like Jesus our Lord and Master, we must make use of every opportunity to manifest this godly virtue. Show kindness to someone today and be kind always.
Quote: It involves showing empathy
Challenge: Deeds of kindness attract God’s blessings.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to relieve others of their pains.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
