DCLM Higher Everyday 12 August 2024 — God’s Holy Nation
DCLM Higher Everyday 12 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God’s Holy Nation
Topic: God’s Holy Nation
Text: Exodus 19:3-6
3And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
5Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
Key Verse: “And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation” (Exodus 19:6).
Message
The word ‘Holy’ is an important word which means to be separated or set apart for a specific purpose. Holiness is God’s nature. A nation, on the other hand, is made up of different generations including Gen-Z which you belong to. God demands that every man including youths should be like him. “…Be ye holy for I am holy” (1Peter 1:16).
In every generation, God desires fellowship of man that can only be maintained by holy living which has been exemplified by the patriarchs of old like Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Joseph. Moses had fellowship with God because he was found holy. For the Jews, God required that they obey His voice (word) and keep His covenant so that He would fulfill His promise of making them a holy nation. Likewise, the promise in 1 Peter 2:19 “…ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…” can only be given if you heed His call through genuine salvation, separation unto God and maintaining a holy life (Luke 1:75). Today is World Youth Day! Stay peculiar. Be joyful!
Quote: Keep His covenant
Challenge: The holy God hosts a holy nation.
Prayer for today: O God, make me a part of your holy nation.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
