Topic: God’s Promise To Guide
Text: Psalm 32:7-11
8I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
10Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
11Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
Key Verse: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with my eye” (Psalm 32:8).
Message
S. D. Gordon says, “It is safe to trust God’s methods, and to go by His clock.” The children of Israel left Egypt for Canaan and depended on God absolutely to guide them. First, God chose not to lead them through the country of the Philistines so that they would not see war and turn back to Egypt. Second, He made available the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night which were not only for their safety but to guide them on the way they should follow. They moved or rested when and where the pillar of cloud or fire moved or rested (Exodus 13:17, 21, 22).
The case of Israel’s divine guidance demonstrates God’s faithfulness in fulfilling His promise to guide His people. He is ever willing to help His children if they involve Him in all their decisions. Obedience or adherence to the leading of the Holy Spirit will provide the needed help to avoid needless misfortunes and heartbreaks. Dear youth, allow God to guide you in all the affairs of your life for optimal outcomes spiritually, academically and socially.
Quote: Allow God to guide you
Challenge: Wherever He leads I will go!
Prayer for today: O God, help me to daily seek, know and follow your guidance.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
