Topic: God’s Strong Hand

Text — Isaiah 40:9-11

9O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

10Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

11He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Key Verse: “Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him” (Isaiah 40:10).

Message

Pharaoh kept God’s people in servitude while the Egyptians enjoyed the gains of slavery. This story is profoundly narrated in the book of Exodus. However, God arose to halt this evil and injustice (Psalm 68:1). This panoramic story of God’s deliverance is well captioned in our topic – “God’s strong hand.”

Our text reveals how Isaiah as a prophet confidently proclaimed God’s message to the Israelites at the time of their need for divine help knowing that God is able to deliver. He pointedly told the people to be calm and not to fear for God would never come late to deliver His people. When we are born again, we become children of God which makes us qualified to secure God’s help in difficult times. God will show Himself strong for His children with stretched out arms to help. Today, God is providing admissions to institutions of higher learning, giving scholarships, subduing enemies of progress, averting mishaps, and healing all incurable sicknesses. If you are yet to become one of His children, turn to Him today in repentance for salvation.

Quote: Secure God’s help in difficult times.

Challenge: What God cannot do does not exist.

Prayer for today: Lord, show your outstretched arm in my situation.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
