TOPIC: GOD’S WORD AS LIGHT
TEXT: PSALM 119:105-112
105NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
106I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
107I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.
108Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.
109My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.
110The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.
111Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
112I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.
MEMORY VERSE: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (PSALM 119:105).
“Let there be Light,” was the first command made by God in the Bible. The world was formed from the raw material of God’s words. His word gave birth to light and day.
MESSAGE:
Light irradiates darkness, revealing what is in the dark; and discloses a positive or a negative path. That is what God’s word does in our life; it is the light that shows us the way. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.”
Understanding and learning the spiritual principles of God’s Word will help us avoid many sorrows, pitfalls and tragedies brought by wrong decisions and choices. We must treasure its wisdom and faithfully hold on to its instructions in all life’s situations.

God’s Word is the light in our pathway of life, directing and keeping us from stumbling and falling. If you never flip the light switch on, you cannot see in the dark. Likewise, if you do not open God’s Word and read it, you cannot perceive the truth and live a faithful and stable Christian life.

CHALLENGE: Read, learn and live out God’s Word. Turn on the light!
PRAYER: Lord, open my eyes to behold wonderful things in Your Word.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
