DCLM Sincere Milk 25 July 2024 — Greater Than My Oppression
DCLM Sincere Milk 25 July 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Greater Than My Oppression
Topic: Greater Than My Oppression
Text: Psalm 12:1-5
1(To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.) Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
3The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
4Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
5For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
Key Verse: “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.” Psalm 12:5
Message
Oppression is as old as man. Cain oppressed and killed his brother Abel. The Egyptian so oppressed the children of Israel that they lived in anguish daily. Oppression comes in different forms such as lies, bullying, fighting, abuses, cheating and others.
People oppress with their words and actions. Oppression brings fear and torment as the one oppressed is just at the mercy of the oppressor. Goliath oppressed David with his words because he was a giant and felt David was too small for him. But God was with David. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”

When you look at how big the oppressor is, you may think it is impossible to conquer him, but the God Who gave David the victory is still alive today. He will surely give you victory over every oppression. Seek the Lord earnestly in prayers and present those bullies/oppressors before Him, He will silence them all in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer for today: Oh Lord, deliver me from all forms of oppression.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
