DCLM Sincere Milk 11 October 2024 — Growth
DCLM Sincere Milk 11 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Growth
Topic: Growth
Text: 1 Peter 2:1-7
1Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
Key Verse“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” 1 Peter 2:2
Message
Plants grow, animals grow and human beings also pass through the process of growth. A baby that remains with the same height, weight, after a few years will give his parents great concern. Growth is a sign of progress both physically and spiritually. God desires that as His creatures, we should grow spiritually. The means to achieve that is through His word. This word is referred to as the sincere milk. As physical milk is necessary for the physical growth of the new born baby, so also is the sincere milk vital for our spiritual growth and health.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, help me to grow in grace and in the knowledge of You in Jesus’ Name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
