DCLM Higher Everyday 12 April 2025 — Hannah And The Power Of Praise
DCLM Higher Everyday 12 April 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Hannah And The Power Of Praise
Topic: Hannah And The Power Of Praise
Text: 1 Samuel 2:1-10
1And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
3Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
4The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
5They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.
6The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
7The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
8He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.
9He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
10The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
Key Verse: “And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation” (1 Samuel 2:1).
Message
The place of praise and thanksgiving cannot be over emphasized in the life of a Christian youth. C.S. Lewis rightly said, “The place of praise is the place of supernatural encounters, for God is fearful in praise.” Only in the act of praise and worship can a man learn to appreciate the goodness and greatness of God. God expects Christian youths to praise Him at all times especially after He has done a notable miracle in their lives. After the miraculous healing of the ten Lepers from their miserable condition, only one of them remembered to go back to Jesus and expressed his gratitude. Christ commended and blessed him (Luke 17:11-19).

In our text, Hannah expressed gratitude to God for granting her request in giving her a son. As a result, God gave her three more sons and two daughters. Christian youths must develop the habit of thanking God at all times be it for healing, divine provision or exam success. Have you praised God, today? If not, why not do it now?
Quote: Hannah expressed gratitude to God
Challenge: In everything, give thanks to God.
Prayer for today: O Lord, give me the grace to praise you always.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
