DCLM Higher Everyday 14 October 2025 — He Created Light And Darkness

DCLM Higher Everyday 14 October 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — He Created Light And Darkness

Topic: He Created Light And Darkness

Text —Genesis 1:3-5

3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Key Verse: “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day” (Genesis 1:5).

Message

After God’s creation of heaven and earth, His first work of creation was light.   The Lord created light and darkness. In this passage, light is referred to as Day while darkness is referred to as Night. He intended for day and night to exist; they are not merely by accidental consequence of the natural world. This means there is a God who brought the world, including you into existence. The God of the day is also God in the night.

In the New Testament, light in scripture refers to truth and righteousness. Darkness refers to falsehood and evil. To live as children of light means to be directed by what is good and right and true. “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). God wants all His children to walk in the light and not in darkness. Stand for the truth and righteousness wherever you go and shun falsehood and evil.

Quote: God is light

Challenge: Stand for truth and righteousness.

Prayer for today: Help me dear Lord, to walk in the light and not in darkness.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
