DCLM Higher Everyday 30 October 2024 — Help For The Helpless

DCLM Higher Everyday 30 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiHelp For The Helpless

Topic: Help For The Helpless

Text: Isaiah 41:13-19

13For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

16Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

18I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

Key Verse: “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not; I will help thee” (Isaiah 41:13).

Message

Eaglets learn to fly from their parents (Eagles). Until their maturity, they are fully aware of their helplessness and vulnerability and so depend on their parents for everything that will enhance their survival. They are not afraid of enemies’ attacks or the altitude their parents take them flying as they strongly believe they are in safe hands. The children of Israel had lived in fear as they appeared weak and defenseless, like worms, before their enemies. God challenged them not to fear as He promised them help from above.

As God’s children, we are assured of His help in times of need as He did for saints of old like Joseph, Jabez, Daniel and his companions, Paul, Silas and others.

Are you seeking for school admission, excellent results in your examinations, finance, healing, health or right choice of career? God will intervene. First, surrender your life to Jesus by confessing and forsaking your sins and accepting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. Then seek His face for help, casting all your care upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). God will intervene.

Quote: Seek His face for help

Challenge: God cares!

Prayer for today: Oh God, Help me! For my help comes from you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
