DCLM Higher Everyday 15 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiHelp One Another

Text: Help One Another

Text: Galatians 6:1-5

1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

2Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

3For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

4But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

5For every man shall bear his own burden.

Key Verse: “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6: 2).

Message

The story of the Good Samaritan can never be easily forgotten as we learn to bear one another’s burdens. A man was attacked by thieves when on a journey.  The Samaritan bore the burden of this helpless man who was in a hopeless condition as a result of the attack.  This was the love of Christ exemplified in the life of the Samaritan who was not exposed to the law of God like the Levite who passed by seeing this same man in pain but looked the other way. The Good Samaritan proved that God is love and His love extends to all human beings irrespective of race, religion or tribe. Believers are expected to help those in critical conditions in their life’s journey.

Helping others to carry their burdens may cause the believers some amount of inconveniencies. We can help sinners by taking the pain to preach to them and follow them up until they give their lives to Christ. We can share what we have with others, especially the less privileged around us.

Quote: Help those in critical conditions

Challenge: Helping is sacrificial.

Prayer for today: Oh God, help me to help others, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
