DCLM Higher Everyday 2 November 2025 — Hold Fast What You Have
DCLM Higher Everyday 2 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Hold Fast What You Have
Topic: Hold Fast What You Have
Text: Revelation 3:7-13
7And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
9Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
12Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
13He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
14And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Key Verse: “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown” (Revelation 3:11).
Message
A song writer, Ira Stanphill in 1950, wrote; “Many things about tomorrow, I don’t seem to understand, but I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds my hand.” It’s evident that every traveller on the path to heaven faces challenges such as persecution, temptation, tests of faith, illness, needs, failures, and more. Despite this, we must remain steadfast and resolute in holding onto what we possess: salvation, sanctification, conviction, etc., as we journey towards heaven.

Some of those who started the journey with us have faltered along the way due to the ups and downs of life. We are urged to diligently contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints as we engage in our daily activities. In the darkest moments before dawn, we must not look back but trust in the Lord, knowing that He will guide us through every situation. Therefore, let us remain prayerful, committed, and keep the flame burning so that at the end of the day, we will have abundant testimonies. Friend, don’t allow anything to make you miss heaven.
Quote: Diligently contend for the faith
Challenge: Christ’s coming is imminent, keep the faith.
Prayer for today: O Lord, help me never to compromise.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
