Topic: I AM
Text: Exodus 3:13-16
13And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
15And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
16Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:
Key Verse: “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” Exodus 3:14
Message
I am, is a three-letter word that carries a special message. For example, if mummy comes into the kitchen while you were doing the dishes and asks “who put this cup on the cooker?” Your answer will likely be “I am”. This means you are the one and no other person. “I Am” is the answer God gave to Moses in response to the request to know Who was sending him to the children of Israel. This name of God means, He is.

Do you look forward to the end of a long school day or to the end of the week? Do you sometimes wonder what you will be when you grow up? Everything in life has a beginning and an end, whether it is a day or a lifetime. We measure the time between the beginning and the end of something by minutes or hours, in days or in years. It is hard for us to understand what it could be like not having time. God uses the name “I AM” to help us understand that He is in the past, the present and the future. God doesn’t just see into the future, or travel back in time. He is the past right now, He is everywhere at this very moment and He is the future at this instance – all at the same time! He is always just there; that is why He called himself I AM. As Moses trusted in this name and was able to fulfill his call, so you must trust in God. He is the Same yesterday, today and forever. Whatever wonder He did in the past, He will do in your life right now.

Prayer for today: Let the power of Your name work wonders in my life, oh Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
