DCLM Sincere Milk 8 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — I Am a New Creature
Topic: I Am a New Creature
Text — 1Peter 2:9-11
9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
11Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Key Verse: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;” 1 Peter 2:9a
Message
“I am a new creature, I ‘m a brand-new man, old things are passed away, I am born again, more than a conqueror, that’s who I am, I ‘m a new creature and brand-new man.” Can you sing that beautiful song? A baby that was in the mother’s womb yesterday but was born this morning is no longer the same. That baby has changed position. All things have changed. No more in the darkness and heat of the womb. The baby has seen the light, and no longer the same.

When a child is born again, everything changes. Now, he is a new creature and God has given that child a new status. God says you are
(i) a chosen generation chosen by God among all others
(ii) a royal priesthood – a priest unto the heavenly King
(iii) an holy nation – now a citizen of heaven
(iv) a peculiar people – not like all other children but special. A child of God must be conscious of all these uncommon status God has put upon him. The devil is always looking for ways to make a child of God doubt and condemn himself. Say no to Satan’s condemnation. How can you constantly have the confidence and assurance of who God says you are? “… abstain from fleshly lusts,” and live a holy life. You will enjoy the benefits in the kingdom. Congratulations!!!

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, help me to maintain my new identity in You.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
