DCLM Higher Everyday 1 September 2025 — I Belong To God’s Household
DCLM Higher Everyday 1 September 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — I Belong To God’s Household
Topic: I Belong To God’s Household
Text: Ephesians 2:13-22
13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
15Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Key Verse: “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God” (Ephesians 2:19).
Message
Sometimes we come across young people who live like orphans despite having parents that are alive as a result of their rebellion. Such people lose the care, love, and shared happiness in a family and long to be reconciled to their families to enjoy the privileges of family members. However, no matter how they wish to be reconciled to their family members, the onus on them to take practical steps to go back to the family.

God’s household means God’s family where there is unfeigned love, mutual respect, forgiveness, sharing and caring for one another. Many youths have left God’s household today in search of sinful pleasures and have made themselves spiritual orphans. Sinners can become part of God’s household through genuine repentance to be born again. Backsliders who left God’s family should return and believers should remain in unbroken fellowship with God and with one another. If you are outside God’s family, the Lord is standing at the door of your heart knocking and inviting you to His household.
Quote: Remain in unbroken fellowship with God
Challenge: I belong to the family of our ever-living Father.
Prayer for today: Lord, give me grace to abide in your house forever.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
