DCLM Sincere Milk 16 December 2024 — I Must Work – Part 1
DCLM Sincere Milk 16 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — I Must Work – Part 1
Topic: I Must Work – Part 1
Text: John 9:1-5
1Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Key Verse: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” John 9:4
Message
God did the work of creation for six days and then rested on the seventh day. After creating Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, God commanded them to dress the garden and to keep it. After the fall of man through sin, God still “… sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.” (Genesis 3:23)

When the Lord Jesus came into the world, He worked, though He had the power to command all things to happen. He even helped His earthly parents in their work. This means that being engaged in one work or the other is necessary in life. The work we do depends on our age and our skill. Children are to work according to their age and ability. There are great benefits in engaging in profitable work. Do not be a lazy child. Follow the example of Jesus and work while you are young and energetic. You will reap great blessings.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, make me a responsible child. Give me the grace to do all that is expected of me.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
