TOPIC: I WILL FOLLOW JESUS TO THE END
TEXT: LUKE 9:59-62
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Key Verse: “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62).
Cyril was among the boys that participated in the 400 meters race during his school’s inter-house sports competition. On hearing the command “On your marks, get set, go!” He started running and went ahead of others. He looked away from those trying to distract him and continued to run, even when he became tired, until he ran to the end and won the race.
Your decision to repent of your sins and become a friend of Jesus is great, but the decision to daily live in obedience to His word and remain His friend to the end is more important. Enoch decided to obey and live to please God. He continued daily to obey God and he is now in heaven.
Judas Iscariot was once a friend of Jesus, unfortunately, he did not follow Jesus to the end. He became a thief and died a sinner. Only boys and girls who have repented of their sins and continue to follow Jesus till the end will make it to heaven.
Repent now if you are not yet a friend of Jesus. If you are already a friend of Jesus, make up your mind to continue to follow Jesus till you get to heaven. Read your Bible and pray every day for grace to obey the Lord and He will keep you till the end.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to daily live in obedience to Your word and follow You till the end in Jesus’ Name.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)

4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
