DCLM Sincere Milk 23 March 2023 — Identity of God’s children
DCLM Sincere Milk 23 March 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Identity of God’s children
TOPIC: IDENTITY OF GOD’S CHILDREN…
BIBLE TEXT: GALATIANS 4:1-7
2But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
KEY VERSE: “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (GALATIANS 4:7).
MESSAGE:
Jim was born abroad where his parents reside. A short while later, both his parents died in a car accident when he was barely three months old, hence he was cared for by an Orphanage. As Jim was growing up, the issue of his identity was a serious concern to him. He continually asked for his father’s roots. This search yielded positive results as Jim came in contact with one of his father’s friends who linked him to his root in their native country. Unknown to Jim, he is from the royal family in a popular community and the community had been looking for him to crown him as the king. As a first-class king, he is entitled to many privileges and benefits. This story is related to children who have been reconciled to God through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
The identity of a child of God is not in doubt. Apart from being created in the image of God, a believer is special in God’s hands. We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus. We are new creatures and are declared sons and daughters in God’s family. Then, as sons, we are made heirs, which is the richest inheritance of all.
We are the apple of God’s eyes. We are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and peculiar people. God wants to help you find your purpose and your identity. Keep seeking Him, and as you get to know Him more, you will begin to discover your true identity in Him. Then you will also live your life for His glory.
PRAYER: O God, help me to know who I am in You so that I can live to Glorify you.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
