Topic: If God Be For Us
Text: Romans 8:31-39
31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Key Verse: “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
Message
Think of the most powerful king who ever ruled, or the greatest president who ever lived. With a single word or signature, powerful leaders can start or end a war. Kings could decide who should live and who should die.

At the time of the early church, there was a powerful king named Herod. He was a very wicked king who persecuted the church during the time of the apostles. He sent soldiers to arrest and imprison some friends of Jesus. He killed John the Baptist, James the brother of John, a disciple of Christ. He then proceeded to arrest Peter and put him in prison ready for the slaughter. Then the church prayed and God proved that He was with His church. Peter was miraculously delivered.
But Herod forgot Who was in control of his life; Who controls the seasons, Who holds the whole universe in His hands. Foolishly he tried to challenge the One Who makes the sun rise and set. Herod equated himself with God and an angel struck him and he was eaten up by worms. God’s word then spread wide and the church grew. If God be for us, who can be against us. Nobody. Always remember this and you will be victorious

Prayer for today: Lord, I believe that You are with us and therefore nobody can conquer us. Amen.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
