Topic: In Times Of Temptations
Text: 1 Corinthians 6:15-20
16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Key Verse: “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20).
Message
No Christian should allow himself or herself to be deceived by Satan into thinking that temptation is seasonal. Fleshly pleasure is a very strong motivation and a powerful tool in the hand of Satan. It is not hard to imagine therefore how he has filled all spheres of human existence with images of seduction, lust, and immorality. Satan does not hide his chief goal of drawing as many souls as possible to hell with him. It is warfare, a battle for the eternal souls of men and women.
Popular culture makes youth particularly open to temptations of fornication and pornography. Most youths feel they cannot exist without social media; and are exposed to lusciousness, nudity and lust-provoking behaviours that are inimical to Christian virtues. You must determine to be holy in order to resist the pull of the world. The Scripture’s counsel remains: “Flee fornication.” Run from any scene that is seductive, as Joseph did to overcome the evil passion of Potiphar’s wife. Christian youth, run to Jesus in prayer and meditation on His word to receive power to overcome.
Quote: Christian youth, run to Jesus
Challenge: With Christ, you can conquer every temptation.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to stand firm at all times. Amen.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
