DCLM Higher Everyday 6 September 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Increase In Knowledge
Topic: Increase In Knowledge
Text: Daniel 12:4-9
4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
6And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Key Verse: “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” (Daniel 12:4).
Message
We are living in the age of fulfillment of prophecies of the last day events. God spoke to Daniel in clear terms that in the period that we are in now many would run to and fro in search of more knowledge because knowledge would increase. Prophet Habakkuk affirms that the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of God as waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). The evolvement of internet, digital technology, and artificial intelligence has made knowledge accessible to people world-wide. Gospel outreach has taken a new dimension as a result of increase in knowledge, leading to global gospel expansion.

Christian youths need to increase in balanced knowledge in order to cope with the modern world. However, they also need to be wary of the negative and polluting knowledge that is spreading fast on the internet, especially on the social media platforms. Through the internet, many youths have been drawn to various vices like pornography and cult practices. Friend, as knowledge is increasing, be conscious of God’s glory at all times. In other words be inclined only to what is good and godly.
Quote: Be conscious of God’s glory
Challenge: Pursue balanced and wholesome knowledge.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to grow in the knowledge of Christ.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
