DCLM Sincere Milk 21 August 2023 — Jesus – The Solid Rock
DCLM Sincere Milk 21 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Jesus- The Solid Rock
Topic: Jesus- The Solid Rock
Text: 1 Corinthians 10:1-6
2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Key Verse: “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:4
Message
A song writer wrote thus “Jesus the Rock, the Solid Rock, Jesus the Solid Rock, my soul has found a refuge in Him, Jesus the Solid Rock.” In geography, rocks can be described as the naturally occurring aggregate of solid mineral matter that constitute a significant part of the earth’s crust. They could also be defined as mass of stone projecting out of the ground or water. Spiritually or figuratively, a rock means something that is strong, stable and dependable; a person who provides security or support to another. Jesus Christ is the only Personality that perfectly fits into this definition.
Jesus, the Solid Rock is unshakeable, unmovable, unbendable, undestroyable and unconquerable. Jesus said to Peter “…. upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18) The devil cannot have power over the church which is built on the Rock of ages. Jesus the Solid Rock symbolizes the shield and protection for a child to hide in and be protected and saved from the enemy. But only true friends of Jesus can hide under Him. A sinner cannot be under the protection of God, as he is exposed to the attack of the enemy at any time. Why not run to Jesus today to receive shelter? This can only be possible by confessing your sins to Jesus and surrendering your life to Him.

Prayer for today: Jesus, hide me under Your Rock so I can be safe from all harms.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
