Text: Matthew 3:13-17
13Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Message
Road signs and markings are erected to facilitate effective communication between the road authorities and road users. How often many road users neglect these signs and get into trouble with the authorities and inflict untold pains on others? Obedience to road signs and markings will reduce accidents and keep many lives safe. In the same manner, obedience to God’s laid down ordinances is the hallmark of Christian living.

The Lord Jesus demonstrated obedience to the will of God submitting Himself to water baptism conducted by John the Baptist, His forerunner. His obedience brought about the confirmation of the divinity of Christ by the Father who said, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.” God expects total obedience to His word from all His children. Are you an obedient youth or are you still struggling with the revealed will of God as handed down to humanity in the Bible? God loves obedient children and blesses them for that. Humble yourself before His lordship and surrender your life to Him totally.

Prayer for today: Help me Lord to willingly obey you in all things.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
