DCLM Higher Everyday 10 June 2024 — Justification By Faith

DCLM Higher Everyday 10 June 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiJustification By Faith

Topic: Justification By Faith

Text: Romans 4:1-10

1What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

2For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

3For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

9Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

10How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

Key Verse: “But to him who worketh not, but believeth on him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5).

Message

Justification of a sinner is by the principle of faith and not of merit. It is the forgiveness of past sins by faith or confidence that Christ died for your sins; and that He loves you and gave Himself for you. Jesus shed His innocent blood on the cross to save the guilty man from the penalty of sin. Religious activities such as attending church services, paying tithes, giving alms, singing in the church choir, etc, cannot justify anyone unless you have faith in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

A justified youth is completely free of the guilt of sin when he believes he is forgiven and his or her record is clean before God. Today is a great opportunity to plunge into Christ’s provision for your justification. All you need to do is to confess and repent of all your sins, then believe in the sacrifice that Jesus made for you at Calvary. Promise God that you will not go back to your sins anymore. Then you will gain a reassuring peace that the world never gives.

Quote: Forgiveness of past sins by faith

Challenge: Justification is by faith in Christ’s death.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to be free from the guilt of sin.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
