TOPIC: KEEP SILENCE BEFORE GOD

BIBLE TEXT: HABAKKUK 2:20

KEY VERSE: “But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him” (Habakkuk 2:20).

MESSAGE

The house of God, also known as the Temple or Church, is where we gather to worship God and have fellowship with one another. It is a sacred (holy) place because wherever friends of Jesus are gathered, He (Jesus), is always there.
God is Pure and Mighty. He hates noise making and every unclean attitude. Whenever we come before God, either in the Church, house fellowship or at the family altar, He expects us to be silent before Him. Many children go to church with toys, games, handsets, story books, school work, etc. Some eat biscuits and drop the wraps on the floor. God is in His Holy Temple, “let the earth keep silence before Him.”

If you are noisy, restless and rowdy during the time of worship, you cannot hear when God is speaking to you. Remember that God has promised to be in the place where His friends are gathered in His Name.

If you believe this, then, you will comport yourself well, knowing that there is an unseen Eye looking at what you are doing. Fear God and respect His house. Remember, Eli’s children (Hophni and Phinehas), misbehaved in the temple, and they were destroyed.

God lives in you and always has something to tell you. Behave well, honour His presence, and you will enjoy bountiful blessings.

PRAYER: Lord, forgive me for misbehaving in Your house. I will always comport myself well whenever I am in Your presence.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
