DCLM Higher Everyday 5 April 2025 — Keep Thyself Pure

DCLM Higher Everyday 5 April 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiKeep Thyself Pure

Topic: Keep Thyself Pure

Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:21-24

21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

25Brethren, pray for us.

Key Verse: “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21).

Message

The plant named lily has a sterling quality of producing large immaculate white flowers despite growing up in a muddy or an unclean environment. The Holy Spirit inspired charge, “keep thyself pure” through Apostle Paul is quite important in this age. Satan is all-out to steal, kill and destroy young souls through immoral or ungodly music, films, evil companionship, etc. The devil has invented so many devices aimed at defiling careless souls. The social media platforms are now places for all manners of immoral displays.

You can be another Samuel in Eli’s house, another Joseph who will not be defiled by the offer of Potiphar’s wife, or like the daughters of Phillip who were virgins and useful to God. What about the Rechabites who wouldn’t abandon their father’s godly instructions, or Daniel and his friends that would not yield to defilement with the portion of the king’s meat? To keep yourself pure, you must be genuinely born again, press on to have the sanctification experience, and daily trust God for holy living.

Quote: Keep yourself pure

Challenge: Be a lily in the mire.

Prayer for today: Father, let my life be acceptable before You, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
