TOPIC: Lay It Bare! (DCLM Daily Manna 14 August 2023)
KEY VERSE: “And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good” (1 Samuel 3:18).
TEXT: 1 Samuel 3:15-21 (KJV)
15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the Lord. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.
17 And he said, What is the thing that the Lord hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.
18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the Lord: let him do what seemeth him good.
19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the Lord.
21 And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh: for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the Lord.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
Martin Luther Jr once said, “A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true”. People who should speak and act the truth, but refuse are cowards. Regardless of its repercussion, nothing compares with the truth.

Bewildered by a divine revelation against his master, Eli, young Samuel pondered on the weight of the message of the revelation and the challenge of relaying it to him. Sensing that the message was important, Eli resorted to threatening Samuel to relay it fully and faithfully. Despite the bewilderment, Samuel relayed God’s message to Eli and his house without missing a thread. Though an unpleasant message with a colouration of judgment, yet the young Samuel “told him every whit” of what God had determined against his house. On his part, Eli did not pray to God or restrain his children from their evil conducts. He merely accepted God’s verdict.
We live in an age when many no longer hear from God. Many who claim to hear from Him or know the truth shy away from declaring the whole counsel of God to the world. Our society today is full of men and women who profess to love God and know the truth, but fail to denounce sinful practices.
As believers, we must declare the whole truth, not minding whether it touches the “masters” or the “revered”. In times like this, keeping silent in the face of flagrant disobedience to God’s word and disregard of Christ’s provision for salvation is dangerous for sinners and believers alike.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Only the truth of God’s word truly sets free.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Job 6-10

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
