DCLM Higher Everyday 17 November 2025 — Lust And Be Forever Lost
DCLM Higher Everyday 17 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Lust And Be Forever Lost
Topic: Lust And Be Forever Lost
Text: 1 John 2:15-17
15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Key Verse: “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (I John 2:17).
Message
In a society filled with mad rush for pleasure and sensuality, where abnormalities have become acceptable and normal, there are vices that are more prominent among the teenagers and young people. The divine injunction remains clear as ever, ‘love not the world, neither the things that are in the world…’ Lust is a strong craving or hunger for anything, which includes pleasure of the flesh, power, wealth and riches. John the beloved classifies them into; lust of the flesh, of the eyes and pride of life. Lust consumes and condemns its victim because it permeates and completely takes the love of God from the heart of the victim. Hence Ian Sewter said, “Sexual sins such as fornication and adultery are called “Acts of love.” They are not acts of love, they acts of lust.”

Prominent among present day practices of lust in the youth world are dating, pornography, internet frauds, money rituals, and ungodly fashion. Those who are caught in the web of lust are lost in sins and trespasses and could be lost eternally except they repent.
Quote: Lust consumes and condemns
Challenge: Examine your heart today.
.Prayer for today: Purge my heart Lord, from the spirit of lust.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
