Text: 1 Samuel 16:11-13
11And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
13Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
Key Verse: “And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.” 1 Samuel 16:12
Message
Boughton describes the clay soil as a heavy soil type that benefits from high nutrient. Clay soil remains wet and cold in winter and dry out in summer. Due to the spaces found between clay particles, the soil holds a high amount of water. It feels very sticky and rolls like plasticine when wet. The clay is one of the three types of soil that we have. By the way, where can we find soil? On the ground or floor; we walk on it, throw our garbage on it and do just what we like on it, but the clay soil distinguishes itself and finds itself above the ground. It can be found in the queen’s palace and in many prestigious as vases, tiles, mugs, plates and different ceramic products.

David never knew he was made to be more than just a shepherd feeding his father’s sheep. God’s plan for him was to be the shepherd over the entire flock – Israel. He was doing what he was assigned to do diligently and eventually he got to the throne. Just like the clay, think of how to be a better version of yourself at the break of each day. You have lots of abilities in you, start using them.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, open my eyes to discover what you have deposited in me, and help me to use all for Your glory.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
