Topic: Managing Your Success
Text: 2 Kings 10:28-31
28Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
29Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.
30And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.
31But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.
Key Verse: “But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.” 2 Kings 10:31.
Message
In our Bible passage, we have the story of a king in Israel, named Jehu. He was born to fulfil the plan of God; particularly to carry out God’s judgment on wicked king Ahab and his equally wicked wife, Jezebel. Jehu carried out his God’s sent assignment with zeal and passion and God was pleased with him. However, just like most successful people who could not continue on the path of success, Jehu refused to continue to serve God with all his heart.
What an unfortunate story! Jehu stumbled and lost the great record of success. The reason for Jehu’s failure was that he departed from God and His word. His success got into his head and he thought he could now stand alone without God. The foundation of enduring success is God’s word.
If you must remain successful in your Christian race, academic work and other areas of life, you must lean on God’s word and live a life of complete obedience to God’s word, will and way. This is the way to manage your success and still remain in God’s will.

Prayer for today: O Lord, help me to yield to Your word so that I can be successful in life.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
